A novel visually imperceptible image hiding schemernbased on VQ compression and LSB modification isrnintroduced in this article. Multiple secret images can bernsimultaneously and imperceptibly hid into another coverrnimage with the same image size by the proposed scheme.rnIn order to reduce the volume of secret images to be hid, arncodebook is first generated form the secret images andrnthese images are encoded into binary indexes by thernvector quantization technique. Then the compressed datarnof secret images are embedded into the VQ codebookrnused in the encoding procedure by an adaptive leastsignificant-rnbits (LSB) modification technique. For thernsecurity purpose, the slightly modified codebook isrnfurther encrypted into a meaningless data stream by thernDES cryptosystem. Finally, the encrypted codebook isrnembedded into the cover image using the greedy LSBrnmodification technique. Simulation results show that thernproposed scheme provides a good improvement in thernvisual quality of the extracted secret images and the coverrnimage at the receiver. In addition, it also provides a betterrnhiding capacity for the cover image.
