ThyssenKrupp is a globally active Group and as a materials supplier plays an important role in the development of innovative parts, systems and components. In association with the auto industry, solutions are developed that optimally utilize the potential of steel. In light of the current global climate debate, the shared objective of auto manufacturers and suppliers like ThyssenKrupp is to develop sustainable and affordable solutions. In pursuit of this goal, ThyssenKrupp adopts a holistic approach taking in the material, technological and design aspects of lightweighting(R) i.e. from the development of innovative steel materials and coatings to new forming technologies through to entire new projects, such as InCar(R) With InCar(R) ThyssenKrupp is facing up to the challenge of providing its partners in the auto industry with a broad spectrum of innovative technologies displaying such a high degree of maturity that rapid integration into series production is possible: solutions for the body, chassis and powertrain that can be adapted to different customer goals in terms of weight reduction, cost and safety. Altogether InCar(R) offers over 30 innovative body, chassis and powertrain solutions. Whether the objective is weight reduction, cost efficiency or functionality: on at least one of these points each InCar(R) innovation is clearly and demonstrably superior to the current state of the art. All InCar(R) evelopments have been additionally assessed from an ecological viewpoint by an independent institute and the effect of the solutions on a vehicle's CO2 emissions has been measured. The InCar(R) project will continue to demonstrate the potential of new steel products and technologies in the future. The potential of steel in lightweight design is far from being exhausted.
