Both Fe-efficient apple genotype of Malus xiaojinensis and Fe-inefficient one of M. baccata were employed as the experimental materials to pursue effects of N, K, Fe levels and their interactions on growth of these two apple genotypes. The results showed that deficiency of N, K, or Fe reduced both fresh weight and dry weight of either M. xiaojinensis or M. baccata, and the mixed deficiencies of the two or three of these 3 elements enhanced the reducing effest, although significance among the effects was various with different elements or genotypes. Except N on root length of M. xiaojinensis, deficiencies of N, K or Fe made root length be shorter for both M. xiaojinensis and M. baccata. On shoot length, N had the most significant effect in M. xiaojinensis, while M. baccata was most significantly influenced by Fe.
