Juvenile apple trees in southern China: endogenous hormone contents, growth and development

A common survey revealed that the apple production has been developing rapidly in southern China, covering the most locations of tropics and subtropics. In virtue of high altitude and abundant sunshine, the apples produced here are famous for super quality and high yield, and have won five championships in China. Determination of endogenous hormones in 'Golden Delicious' apple trees by ELISA showed that the contents of IAA, GA, ABA and ZR have some difference in roots, stems and leaves, with ABA in each organ being the highest and GA the lowest among the four hormones. The IAA contents in roots, stems and leaves of trees grown in the tropics and subtropics had no significant difference. The juvenile apple trees made a larger increment of shoots, and mainly relied on long fruiting shoots and axillary flower buds to form yields.
