Circular Dichroism Microscopy to Explore Local Chiroptical Properties

Circular dichroism (CD) has been used to analyze chirality in molecules. These years, it hasbeen reported that spatially extended chiral systems, such as crystals, molecular assembliesand nanostructures, also show CD activity. In order to explore properties of the CD activityand its physical origin, we developed a CD microscope and visualized spatial CD distributionobserved in the chiral systems of metallic nanostructures, biological cells, and so forth.
