A Revolutionary New Universal Harmonic Filter for VSD's and other 3-Phase, 6-Pulse Rectifiers

This paper introduces a new state-of-the-art passive Universal Harmonic Filter (UHF) that enhances the conversion of AC power to DC within a Variable Speed Drive (VSD) or other 3-phase, 6-pulse diode bridge rectifier load. The result is a tremendous reduction in current harmonics reflected back into the power system and a much more stable DC bus voltage. The need for such a device has grown from the rapid increase in VSD usage in both industrial and commercial applications which has been accompanied by various problems related to harmonic distortion.
