摘要

Economic considerations of grid operators and regional shifting of electric power generation especially due to the grid integration of large offshore wind farms result in higher probability of congested transmission lines. To avoid outages and overstressing of equipment congestion management is applied. In this paper a method is introduced which is able to identify the contribution of each power plant to the utilization of each single line and thus to any congestion. In opposite to other methods this approach is entirely based on physical laws. Using this method, transmission system operators will be able to quickly, cost-effectively and indiscriminately manage and avoid congestions in their control zone.
