This paper presents a novel prototype of voltage-fed quasi-load resonant ZVS-PWM inverter operating at a constant frequency variable power regulation scheme, which is put into practice for high-frequency high-power induction-headed food-cooking appliance. This application-specific inverter using a new generation IGBTs can oeprate under a principle of fixed frquency ZVS-PWM strategy. Its operating principle and unique features are presented, together with its power regulation characteristics on the basis of its computer-aided simulation analyssi and experimental results. THe steady-state characteristics of this voltage-clamped quasi-resonant PWM inverter developed for multi-burner type IH cooking applicance are discussed and evaluated from a practical point of view.
