This article analyzes strength properties and wear behaviour in different wear conditions, including blanking of sheet metals (blanking performance) of WC-hardmetals sintered by two different techniques - ordinary vacuum and compression sintering (sinter/HIP), complemented by SEM. It was found that compression during sintering as compared to ordinary sintering enables a substantial increase in bending strength and a remarkable improvement of adhesive wear resistance and blanking performance of a hardmetal.
