The requirements for polyurethane molded foam have recently become more diversified in the Japanese automotive seat market. The increasing diversification of each automotive concept has complicated efforts to achieve these demanded properties, e.g., improved density, hardness, resiliency and vibration characteristics. Until now, special raw materials and systems have been prepared to accommodate each demand; increasing the number of raw materials. At the same time, it has become impossible to satisfy the requirements for weight reduction and improved resiliency. We have progressed polyols "New Polyol-2" to show excellent performances, especially in physical properties and durability. Moreover, "New Polyol-2" can accommodate most of current wider-ranging demand, and has achieved widespread commercial success in the Japanese automotive market. This paper describes our proposed system concept designed to accommodate a wider range of flexible polyurethane molded foam by using only two kinds of "New Polyol-2".
