摘要

Polymer Optical Fibers offer the possibility for high capacity, low cost and simple to install communication systems. The increasing demand of bandwidth not only in commercial applications, but also for private users gives very interesting chances for the POF technology. Due to the availability of PMMA based Step Index (SI) POF and LED in the 650 nm band, nearly all of the existing systems work at these red wavelength. Nevertheless, there are a number of attenuation minima at longer and shorter wavelength, depending of the POF core material.
