In modern mobile systems like automobiles, trucks, buses, trains, ships and aircrafts more and more electronic equipment is used for control-, safety-, communication-, and entertainment applications. In the past, mainly electrical data buses were used to interconnect electronic components transferring information with speeds of up to 10 Mbps. The increasing use of nultimedia related applications in next vehicles generations requests higher speed for the transmission of the data. In this case systems with datarates from 10 to 100 Mbps and above have to be realized. The realization of such buses will be accompanied with higher costs using conventional electric transmission via copper lines.
