In using steel for fluid transportation under pressure, the essential and vital point for life expectance of pipes is their resistance to internal and external corrosion. THis resistance to corrosion has been the subject of very numerous developments which allowed to reach longer and longer lifetimes, almost in every condition of use. THose developments are classified into three well distinct categories, hich are steel constiution, laying technique and coating.
