A modified analytical model for field application ofimproved waterflooding through brine concentration ispresented. Based on several laboratory studies, manyresearchers suggested changing the brine concentrationduring waterflooding offered viable options for improved oilrecovery. In this regard, particularly in cyclicwaterflooding, several laboratory studies have confirmedthe effectiveness of such approach. However, generally, these studies are limited to laboratory studies without muchfield application. This is based on the fact that mostlaboratory results did not present clearly defined approachfor practical application. This paper analyses the laboratoryresults presented in the literature and proffers a conciseapproach for field application. To this end, based on thereinterpretation of the Civan and Knapp model, a modifiedoil recovery model is developed for field application duringcyclic waterflooding. This model would help in monitoringwaterflood performance based on the impact of brineinjection on increased oil recovery during field applicationof cyclic waterflooding process.
