Double conversion UPS are often the preferred choice for protecting IT equipment in data centers.rnWhile providing optimum protection, double conversion topology may not offer the highest efficiency. Inrnthis context, some double conversion UPS feature a high-efficiency mode (so-called ECO mode), withrnthe load normally fed via the bypass path. This paper discusses Advanced ECO Mode implementationrnfor double-conversion UPS, its compatibility with IT equipment load, and the impact on data center efficiency.rnParticularly, the paper presents experimental results from sample UPS installations. Additionally,rnit evaluates the quality of the average utility, the improvement expected to derive from Smart Grid,rnand the impact on Advanced ECO Mode operation.
