In this paper we discuss concepts for remote procedure calls specially suited for heterogeneous workstation clusters. Many computer programs for industrial applications, for example in nuclear security, VLSI design and medical diagnosis can be mapped into this programming model. Based on concepts such as dynamical load balancing, fault tolerance and a classification of input - and output parameters the code generator TAPAS sup 3 is developed. The generation of parallel code offers the possibility to run parallel programs efficiently on workstation clusters. The performance of the generated codes are demonstrated by three large scale applications.
