Housing and Sheds Material Ageing Property Test of Composite Insulator

In order to study the housing and sheds material aging property of composite insulator of different operating time, ten 220kV/66kV composite insulators in northeast of China were selected to test the characteristics of hydrophobicity, loss-recovery-transference of hydrophobicity, material flammability, volume resistivity, the Shore hardness, tensile, tearing and dielectric strength of the material. The test results indicated that the hydrophobic characteristic of composite insulator with natural contamination is still good. Loss-recovery-transference of hydrophobicity descend to some extent with the increasing of operation time, and the mechanical property of sheds material with long operation time descend evidently. The Shore hardness of material has no relation with operation time. The material flammability and volume resistivity present high performance. Material dielectric strength is lower, and has no relation with operation time.
