MODELING OF COMMERCIAL MARITIME PORT RECOVERABILITYFROM SECURITY DISRUPTIONS: WORK-IN-PROGRESS

This article describes active research in commercialrnmaritime port's recovery from security disruptionsrnwhich explores the synergy of economic andrnsimulation models in investigating the recoverability ofrnports after security incidents. Previous study hasrnidentified decision variables and throughput simulationrnmodels of port operation. However, none of thesernmodels have been utilized to investigate port'srnrecovery from a security disruption and in evaluatingrnrecoverability investments. The method of researchrnincludes analysis of recorded disruptions, identificationrnof impediments to recovery and investment criteria forrnrecoverability. This article provides managers insightrninto including security and continuity of operation inrnmanaging various types of systems.
