Abstract: Optical implementation of two- and four-dimensional interconnection matrices (memory matrices) in the Hopfield-type neural network is carried out by using persistent spectral hole burning (PSHB) media. The capability of the present optical scheme to correct errors in the input image is demonstrated. The technique of photoburning of persistent spectral holes provides new parallel- accessible degrees of freedom that can be used for ultrafast optical processing. A holographic `monochromator' is proposed for high-resolution parallel detection of a large number of frequency components. !20
