DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF EFFECTIVE TRAINING DELIVERED JUST IN TIME TO AN ACTIVE WORKPLACE

The traditional engineering industry will not be able to survive in this era of ICT and the development of automated systems unless it starts implementing rapid training programmes to train new workers and to retrain existing workers throughout the Vocational Training System. European Industry is awakening to the new realities and there is a shortage of qualified, hands-on technicians capable of maintaining complex manufacturing machinery in a World-Class Manufacturing environment. MoFlT is a pilot project which is developing and testing a training model, designed to deliver cost effective training using open, flexible and distance learning (OFDL) methods based on information and communication technologies, within the context of a Rich Environment for Active Leaming (REAL).
