XML BASED AUTHORING TOOL FOR ASSESSMENT

In this work we present advanced assessment technology as used in the ITTI ProDesign tool. Using this tool the pilot exam was performed. This exam (the second one ― the first was conducted a year ago) profited from experience of using the earlier version utilizing only the multiple choice options although with correlations between questions. It is clear that this technology enhances pedagogical and cognitive opportunities of the computer assessment. There is so far minimal experience in exploiting these opportunities. Our tool in the basic functionality complies with the IMS standard. However, we also address issues perceived by some researchers and practitioners as weakness of IMS: 1. Questions/Testing IMS specification seems to have too much detail on simple syntax and no way of specifying new ideas ― by showing how can we use this tech lology in the drag & Drop and SVG context 2. No attention in Mathematics and other specialized authoring interoperability issues ― by accomplishing the MathML module.
