Devils Tower Export Lines: 160 Miles of 18' OD Reeled Rigid Pipe

The Paper starts with a summary of the Devils Towerrndevelopment in the GOM and gives the characteristics ofrnthe 18” Oil and 18” gas export lines from the shallowrnwater platforms to the deep water terminations. Itrncontinues with the description of the sub-sea tie-insrnbranch in 14” diameter from the export lines to the SPARrnin 5000’ water depth including the Steel Catenary Risersrnat SPAR. Provisions for futures ties-ins of nearby fieldsrnwill be covered.rnThe application is any deep or ultra deep developmentrnup to 7,500’ water depth of rigid or flexible flow-lines,rnsteel catenary risers and umbilical.rnThe paper will give the elements to assess thernperformance of the Deep Blue / Theodore spool-basernspread. Weather sensitivity and offshore performance isrnanalyzed and the advantages to S- lay laying method inrnterms of safety and quality and further developed.rnThe high capability of the Deep Blue combined with thernTheodore, Alabama onshore spool-base has offered anrneconomic alternative to the conventional S-lay layingrnmethod for the Devils Tower development. It can bernfurther applied to any mid-size rigid pipe flow-lines SCRrninstallation in deep waters. It combines the advantagesrnof the low cost steel pipe, of the large onshore line prefabricationrnand of the reduced offshore installation time.
