Intelligent completion technologies are becoming arnpopular tool in the oil companies’ quest for increased oilrnrecovery. These new technologies place greater demandrnfor electrical power and data transmission fromrnunmanned platforms. A balance between extension ofrnoffshore platform life, increased oil recovery, andrnincreased lifecycle costs must be obtained. This paperrnprovides technical concerns, solutions, economicrncomparisons, and installation considerations through arncase history on the application of a unique low-kilowattrnsubmersible power cable for the electrification ofrnoffshore unmanned platforms.
