This study investigated difference of marine turbine performance due to assembling and PTO resistance by comparing with two turbine models. A turbine targeted in the study is a vertical axis type and vertical straight blades are a variable-pitch-controlled type developed. The models are basically same but how to assemble blades and resistance to obtain turbine power are different. Model A was used for basic investigation of turbine performance. Model B was redesigned for towing tests as a sea test. A setup system using Model B had an electrical generator. The authors conducted both experiments in a water flume and the sea test using Model B. Using both two models, characteristics of turbine performance of them were discussed.
