On DB projects, risks of project design and development is transferred to a contractor at anrnearly stage and they are exposed to additional risks. The contractor takes risks of unknown and inadequaternproject and site conditions that have not been fully developed at the time of bidding. Although risk managementrnand risk sharing are accepted in underground construction projects and mega projects, not all owners see thernbenefits and some use inequitable risk sharing that contractor must cover in his pricing. This paper discussesrnrisk management issues and suggests partnering with the contractor in risk management.
