Practice of usability evaluation in a product development process based on the principle of human-centered design and future subjects for study in the usability evaluation

This paper describes development of a globally targeted product based on the process of Human-Centered Design as a sample of business activities. In particular we refer to the process of usability study during development of a printer driver from the standpoint of user interface design and to the effectiveness of such study and its difference against results of CS (customer satisfaction) surveys. We also verify whether results of the survey by questionnaire and effectiveness if usability study and its difference against CS survey results are applicable to both Japan and overseas customers through two step experiments. Finally, we propose future works in the field of usability study.
