Studies of solitons interactions of CNLS are of both theoretical and practical importance. In applications to long distance communications by optical fibers, any overlapping or merging of adjacent solitons should be prevented. Introduction of a phase difference between adjacent solitons can be used as means to control the problem. In this paper, the effects of an initial phase difference on the long time evolution of perturbed periodic waves will be investigated. In elliptical polarization, a phase difference would cause the long-time dynamics to break away from a periodic pattern. On the other hand, in a linearly polarized mode, a phase difference does not have an important influence on the longtime evolution.
