摘要

In this paper, the solidification of power law fluids is investigated by assuming that the power law index is varying according to a function of time. The fluid flow is hydrodynamically fully-developed and laminar while the effect of the power law kinematic viscosity on heat transfer is considered. A control volume technique based on the finite difference model coupled with the LU decomposition method is adopted and the least squares polynomial is used to approximate the non-linear items in the energy equation. The results show that the heat transfer behaviors are strongly depending on the value of the power law index and the temperature profiles are compared with the ones which are obtained by using a constant power law index.
