It is from two aspects to study effect of moisture content on MANFO performance that one is effect of moisture content on MANFO exploding performance, the other is effect of moisture content on MANFO explosive storage stability performance. The experimental results show that when the moisture content is within the range of 0.04% to 0. 20%, the detonator gap distance, detonation velocity and brisance of MANFO tend to decrease first, then increase and then decrease again with the increment of the moisture content in the MANFO. The MANFO loses its detonator sensitivity when its moisture content is 0. 20%. It is better to set the moisture content at 0.04% so far as the performance of the MANFO is concerned. The detonation velocity and brisance of MANFO generally tend to decrease with the increment of the moisture content and the elongation of its storage period when the moisture content is in the range of 0.04% to 0. 13%, and the detonation velocity and brisance of MANFO have marked fluctuations. So, the moisture content has an effect on the steady performance of MANFO in stock. The detonation velocity and gap distance of MANFO in stock can satisfy the request of conventional engineering when the moisture content is less than 0. 07%. It will be better to set the moisture content of the MANFO at less than 0.04% when the effect of the moisture content on its performance and storage stability are brought under comprehensive consideration.
