An Overview of Computational Intelligence Techniques in Intrusion Detection Systems

Intrusion detection systems (IDS) are used to monitor computers, networks, and computer applications with the objective of detecting unauthorized usage. Many approaches have been used to design and build a foolproof IDSs. In this paper, an overview of the different computational intelligence approaches used in IDSs is presented. These approaches use combinations of techniques from artificial neural networks, fuzzy systems, genetic algorithms.
