Meshfree method as a kind of new numerical algorithm,which has the advantages of high precision and conveniently complex model computation,has emerged in the field of computational mechanics in last decade.Element-free Galerkin method(EFGM) as a meshfree method not only has been successfully applied in the field where the finite element method(FEM) is used,but also resolved many problems which numerical algorithm is difficult to do,such as large-deformation,fracture,crack growth and high speed impact.Its drawback is that discrete process of system equation involves the background grid generation.Sub-domain method is used to construct the system equation in meshfree local radial point interpolation method (LRPIM).The weighted residual is only required to be eliminated in local quadrature domain,which reduces the dependence on the background grid.A two dimensional magnetotelluric forward modeling method using LRPIM is developed in this paper.Weak-form equations are derived by sub-domain method corresponding to the two-dimensional magnetotelluric boundary conditions,and the weak-form equations are discretized by Gauss quadrature method.The advantages and disadvantages of LRPIM are analyzed comparing with EFGM and FEM.The algorithm is validated by the calculations of two-dimensional model.
