QoS-AWARE HANDOVER SCHEME USING CONTEXT TRANSFER WITHLINK LAYER TRIGGER FOR HIERARCHICAL MOBILE IP

The tremendous rate at which the Internet is growing hasdriven various networks to converge into a fully unifiedIP based architecture. The challenge in such a complexnetwork is to provide a seamless support. This paperdescribes a QoS aware handover scheme based on theHierarchical Mobile IPv6 architecture. Hereenhancements to the scheme to improve seamless supportwere investigated. The two main elements added to thescheme are the use of link layer trigger and also contexttransfer. The results show that the performance for theaverage handover delay has increased by approximately76% for the proposed scheme.
