摘要

A new class of Schiff Base Ruthenium arene complexes has been prepared. These complexes has been tested in ring-opening metathesis polymerisation (ROMP) and ring-closing metathesis (RCM) reactions. The results point out that without trimethylsilyldiazomethane (TMSD) very low activities are obtained. In case the complexes are activated with TMSD good yields are obtained for RCM. Furthermore, a mechaniscm has been suggested. The Schiff Base Ruthenium arene complexes has been tested on their ROMP and RCM behaviour. The obtained results suggest that the catalytic activity strongly depends on the steric and electronic environment of the Schiff Base. The different behaviour of the Schiff Base Ruthenium carbenes for ROMP and RCM has been explained.
