摘要

Climate change over the last century combined with increased human interference has increased the frequency of droughts and floods. These extreme events should not necessarily constitute a threat to the human population, provided water is carefully managed. The lack of hydrological data, especially for mountain rivers, is a major hindrance to management. The research reported here aims to provide a predictive framework to assist water management in the various mountainous regions of Georgia. Timely warning about an oncoming danger enables us to avoid material loss incurred by the element. Early forecasts (a few months in advance) save us from the above as it enables to take certain safety measures in time and to minimize the loss.
