HAZARDOUS POLLUTANT DATABASE FOR KURA-ARAKS WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Historically, there has been a deficiency of data for important chemicals, such as heavy metals, radionuclides and pesticides contents from Kura-Araks river waters. A NATO-OSCE 977991 project began to fill such information gaps as well as develop a scientifically based platform for transboundary water quality management issues. The results of 2 years monthly studies of 12 heavy metals, Ag, As, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Hg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Zn are presented. These data for determination of the ranges of radionuclides and pesticides and PCBs have also been initiated of new approach for processes which control of water quality in Azerbaijan parts of the Kura and Araks rivers.
