This paper will look at the information required to ensure a new fan rotor with new bearings and pedestals are placed on the foundation of an existing fan will operate without vibration issues.rnThe paper will discuss the development of a test and analysis plan. Included in the test plan will be past trend data, operating data in the balanced and unbalanced condition along with an operating deflection of the existing fan. Transient data and impact tests will be discussed so a rotor dynamic model can be developed of the existing system.rnThe data from the existing system (natural frequencies and system stiffness) will be used for the design and analysis of the new fan rotor.rnThe collection of the data along with analysis of the data will be discussed in-depth. The goal of the paper is to provide a testing template so one can acquire good quality data to look at an existing system and then compare a new rotor design to the existing foundation system. This testing plan will allow for the procurement of a reliable replacement rotor.
