STOKES PARAMETER ANALYSIS METHOD, THE CONSOLIDATED TEST METHOD FOR PMD MEASUREMENTS

We present a new formulation of the Poincaré Sphere Analysis for PMD measurement, followingrna discussion of its fundamental equivalence with the Jones Matrix Eigenanalysis. We compare thernresults for a simulated concatenation of waveplates with random delays and orientations of the birefringencernaxes, showing that the two analyses lead to strictly identical results, for any wavelength step. Wernalso show that the standard deviations of the two results present no significant difference in presence ofrnlarge measurement noise.
