摘要

In this paper, an anjsotropic (composite) circular plate, simply supported at its periphery and subjected to uniformly distribute transverse load has been analyzed using transverse shear deformation theory. Its elastic responses have been evaluated. Considering the elastic constants, found experimentally, the thickness of composite plate and an R.C.C slab has been determined for identical geometry, loading and support condition. Calculation reveal a much lower thickness for composite plate. There is a substantial reduction in weight also of composite plate as compared to R.C.C. slab. It is, therefore, presented that the composite material may be an efficient alternative to R.C.C from the viewpoint of economy in design and lightweightness.
