A considerable increase in interest of testing hardened concrete insitu has been observed since late 1970's. There has been a significant advancement in testing techniques, equipment and methods of application. This can be attributed to the sudden increase in the number of concrete structures. With tremendous increase in construction using new materials and admixtures leading to replacement of cement, a decline in the standard of workmanship and construction supervision has led to many distressed structures. Hence this has necessitated the need of insitu measurements and development of new test methods. The test methods so developed need to be performed and interpreted by experienced specialists which otherwise may lead to inconclusive results and wastage of great deal of time, effort and money. Thus the topic has become the subject of the debate.
