Lockheed Martin's Sunnyvale facility operates 4 large thermal vacuum chambers, each having a data channel count in excess of 700 channels. Recently, the data acquisition systems attached to these chambers were upgraded. The new system was expected to meet an accuracy specification of +- 1.5 degree C over a temperature range of 200 to - 200 degree C. The initial installation failed to meet this specification for roughly 20 percent of its data channels. This paper discusses the sources of error that caused the system to fail calibration and how they were addressed.
