An Open-source Software Toolkit for Professional Media over IP (ST 2110 and more)

As the broadcast industry is on the eve ofrnreplacing SDI with IP for critical live applications, newrnways of measuring, monitoring and fault detection need tornbe explored. This paper breaks down certain technicalrnaspects of a key document out of the SMPTE ST 21 JO suite,rnthe ST 2110-21. It also explains the challenges of building arnsoftware-based generic toolkit to measure some basicrncharacteristics. A practical example of an open sourcernsoftware-based ST 2110 implementation is provided. Itsrnfunctionalities to decode and generate streams, measurernand validate stream parameters according to ST 2JJ0-21rnrequirements are explained.
