摘要

Sanbanxi Hydropower Station is a concrete face rockfill dam with a maximum height of 185.5 m,the first 200 m-grade rockfill dam built with lithologically complicated materials,including very solid rocks and also strongly weathered rocks of lower strength.When the reservoir was filled for the first time in July 2007,local cracking was found in the joint of Phase I and II concrete slab,which resulted in a dramatic increase of dam seepage and failure of most instruments embedded in the joint. The process of slab failure and the technology of treatment are discussed herein to provide experience for the design,construction and operation management of similar dams.
