Coprecipitation of arsenate with ferric hydroxide is a commonly used method of removing arsenic from solutions, but a number of factors can interfere with proces squality. Diagrams illustrate the effects of ferric: arsenate ratios, pH, inadequate oxidation, and sulphate concentration on arsenic removal from solution. Tests indicate that fluoride has little effect on arsenic removal but that high initial pH not only causes poor initial arsenic removal but leads to release of arsenic event with short aging of precipitates.
