Work at Bath has developed from optimal control studies for ansingle generator, to the simulation of complex multi-machine powernsystems. Early work showed that power system simulation could be dividedninto several concurrent processes. At the highest level user interactionnand graphical output can run concurrently with the main calculationnmodel. The model itself has inherent concurrency between the individualngenerators. This can be exploited by a computer system using a number ofnprocessing units. Using multiple microprocessors, a power systemnsimulator can be built with dedicated hardware giving reasonablenperformance at low cost
