Polar organic contaminants in the aquatic environment

摘要

Organic micropollutants are reviewed in a historical context and are coarsely classified using a polarity-volatility diagram. The pivotal role of methodological advances for the determination of trace analytes is emphasized. Polar, hydrophilic organic contaminants are listed, which have been delected in wastewater effluents, ambient waters and drinking water. Priority polar pollutants are mentioned, which are covered in current and future regulations for ambient waters and drinking water.
