The study aimed at giving a better insight into the fate of two endocrine disrupting compounds, i.e. nonylphenol and ethinylestradiol during the wastewater treatment in a lab-scale membrane bioreactor. Biodegradation, sorption, mineralization and volatilization were quantified by using radiolabelled compounds and radioactivity balances were calculated at the end of the MBR operation. Synthetic wastewater influents were prepared and were representative of real wastewater organic and mineral composition supporting the growth of sludge microorganisms. Usual operational parameters were chosen according to literature data on MBR used for wastewater treatment.
