Summary form only given. A receive system, mounted in a surveynvehicle with a telescopic mast, has been used to measure field strengthnand picture quality throughout the Winchester area. Particular studiesnhave been made of: comparison of the two modulation schemes, FM andnVSB-FM; bit-error-ratios for both modulation schemes; cross-polarndiscrimination; comparison between winter and summer; multi-pathneffects, using the swept-frequency source; and propagation just beyondnthe horizon, using four remote data-loggers. These measurements havenbeen compared with the predictions of the IBA transmitter coveragensoftware, which uses a 50 m terrain data base. A clutter data base hasnbeen added, with the same horizontal resolution, and various techniquesnhave been assessed for using this information in the prediction software
