Currently 40percent of all electronic products are portable and this figure will reach nearly 60percent by the year 2000. While many of these products contin only a limited amount of electronics eg smart cards, the growth in portables eg phones, laptop computers, PDAs is influencing a major shift to new component technologies and their interconnection and packaging.
