These are the days of cloud computing, bigdata analysis, smart phones all around and 24x7 internet connectivity. This has both pros and cons of so much of data all around. Therefore securities of these data are a major concern as well. Present day trend is to use our biological information as a key for biometrics, human computer interaction, biomimetics, etc. Of these biometrics are the most popularly used most of the time it is based on fingerprints or iris as they are the most commonly used types. With every new advanced technology comes up another new technology to counter it. The parallel research is going on to both enhance and breach securities or at least override them. Thus instead of one biometric a few more are clubbed together to form multimodal biometrics to enhance security. Electrocardiogram or ECG is one such biometric which has given great results when used as a multimodal biometric, along with its other popular counterparts. This is because it provides easy aliveness detection. Here it is used as a single biometric characteristic using a novel gene expression programming (GEP) based recognition scheme. That too has been done on a single ECG lead to make the process of implementation user friendly.
