This document specifies a scheme to provide support for seamlessproactive mobility for IPv6. It encompasses a novel approach for seamlesshandoff and proactive roaming context transfer. The latter establishesa generic method for proactive context transfer and manipulation ofdifferent classes of context relating to the state of IP connectivityfor a mobile node.The above scheme is in support of the argument that waiting to startthe handoff process until the node has reached the cell boundaries,where the range between a set of neighbouring coverage areas is expectedto overlap, is bound to be too late for high speed mobile nodes withirregular mobility patterns. For this reason the proposed mobilityscheme enables proactively roaming context allocation and managementwith forward IP-guarding against irregularities of the mobility patternof the mobile node, before the latter reaches the boundaries of overlapareas between adjacent coverage areas.To address such form of proactivity, the proposed model identifiesthe notion of a mobility neighbourhood through a set of adjacentcoverage areas, that are directly visible during the mobility pattern ofa mobile node and probable to be visited by it in the immediate future;since each coverage area is effected by a single access point controlleddirectly by some routing entity, the proposed mobility model establishesthe abstraction of a routing neighbourhood over spanning tree routingtopologies, acting as the traffic forwarding medium and effected over
